Now You Pick Our New EP

August 24, 2009 - Posted In News Updates 10 Comments

To mark this special occasion we decided to shack up in a local recording studio and invite all our friends and fans out to share in this experience. Because so much of what we do is for you guys, it’s only fitting that we ask you what you want to hear.

Below is a narrowed down list of 14 song clips. Please listen to all 14 and select the 7 songs that you think should be on the EP. Choose carefully because you can only vote once.  On September 8th we will close the polls and announce the winners along all the other details on the show. Until then mark your calendars for October 17th and vote away!

First, I’d like to say it was very difficult to choose only 7 of what I believe is your best work as of yet. I hope you will at least put together a b-side for the other 7 that didn’t make it, because honestly, all 14 songs should be on the CD.

Second, I like to make a suggestion for the tracklisting based on my choices. If mine were to win, here is how I would like to see the listing as:

    1. Gravel
    2. Wakefield
    3. Trees & Memories
    4. Down In The Water
    5. Shit Kickin’
    6. Kankamangus
    7. Empty Rooms

I feel the EP would have a great flow to it if placed as mentioned. Of course, this is not going to be a conceptual album, so I lose the arguement there. Nonetheless, I choose those 7 songs because I feel they are your strongest and I’ve enjoyed them more and more every time I heard them live. Regardless of how the setlist will go in the end, we’ll all be winners.

Thanks Geoff and good call on the order. We’ll have to see how the masses respond. I aggree with you that it is hard to only pick 7. Something tells me there willl be a B-sides to some extent from this evening….also Gravel into Wakefield is something we’ve been toying with. We’ve found that Gravel into Shake It works really good to. We’ll see though :) Can’t wait for 10/17, it’s going to be EPIC

  3. Geoff Says:

B-side would be fantastic, Matt. For promotional purposes, maybe you can include it with the live EP as a deluxe package for a few bucks more. Something to think about…

I have to tell you, the Bill’s Bar performance, when you first debut Gravel into Wakefield, blew my mind. It’s too bad it wasn’t included with the rest of the recording that was taken that night, but man, what a great pairing. That was the highlight of my experience.

Epic it shall be, my friend. Good times to come.

  4. Peter Says:

Fuck this democratic bullshit. Put that new song that you played at Porter Belly’s this last time around, which led me to piss myself in excitement without even being drunk, I’m going to fist each and every band member with a handful of fish sticks.

(I’ll be voting in a bit).

  5. Peter Says:

    Oh, and, moderate my asshole.

  6. Shawn Says:

Sadly, i dont get to see you guys live as much as i wish i could. Furthermore, only 9 people voted so far, so its hard to determine what the general consensus is about 7 tracks are going to make it on the EP. However, at this time im gald to see my choices closley resemble the top 7 picks. some of this stuff seems really new to me.. its hard to put into text but some of these songs seem “outside the box” in compairson to alot of your other work, if you can excuse that overused saying. Again, i dont see you live much and for other reasons maybe im behind the times in what you’ve been putting out latley, but i feel like a few tunes (ex. Down In The Water & Kankamangus) for different reasons are very new/fresh – what have you. Kankamangus- this song is f*cking amazing- ive only heard 1 minute and 2 seconds of it but frankly, im in love with it. this stuff is good guys, no BS, its really good.

  7. Stem Says:

Oh peter. but your song is on there. Its called Alone, that is the song you pissed your self on. I remember it clearly for that is when we had to get the mop and bucket from all the urine.

  8. Matt B Says:

Thanks Shawn, for the most part alot of these songs we’ve played/have been playing live. Out of the 14 Trees & Memories, Alone, and Wakefield are songs that are the newest and haven’t been played much. We are going to try and come down to Brooklyn soon, but you should get a crew together and make the trip up for oct 17th – it’s going to be like no show you’ve ever seen before.

    I say I say that’s a Gar-run-tee

  9. Clif Says:

I dug everything, but If gravel doesn’t make the cut, I will not be a happy boy. Also, just a quick question. Is vinyl a possibility? I would be willing to pay top dollar(Im sure it’s very pricey to just have a few cut) and purchase several copies if this could be done.

  10. Jack Gauthier Says:
