New Song: Do Something

February 7, 2009 - Posted In Keep Your Ear to the Door 2 Comments

Ok, So this time I have a real treat for you Stem fans. I have been mixing tracks from recordings and we have some of those tunes that you have been wanting.  If you have seen us play live, at Portobellies or at any other show, you  may have heard us play this song.  This song is one of our happy sounding ones, though the lyrics aren’t that happy.  Now you can hear one of your favorite Stem songs without having to wait for a show.

Its called “Do Something“, though we have considered changing the name to “Dark Side of My Mind“. Its our shortest song at 3:34. We think its pretty close to done, however I say give it a listen and let us know what you think. Currently the song is in a ABCABC format, for those of you who are into, or want to get into songwriting.

Give us your feedback, and also what you think the song should be called.  (leave a comment below) As I said in my last post, you don’t have to be a musician to know whether or not you like something.

Over the course of the next few weeks im going to be building a collection of tunes called Keep Your Ear to the Door Vol. 3. Which is a collection of unrecorded songs and awesome jams that we tend to give away at shows. Vol 1 we made a few years back well before Vs Them and we used it as our demo. However I think you will enjoy this more. Check out the Download page to get the tracks as well. More to come soon.

Very catchy tune boys. I think the new title for the song is a great idea. It clashes with the melody of the song, which may produce a “wow” factor to those who listen to it for the first time. The structure of the song is great, especially the syncopated parts torwards the ending. A short, straight forward, upbeat rock tune is always good to have in your arsenal.

    Thank you sir,

Yeah I debate about it myself. The name change would provide that nice contrast. Naming the song after a line that is said a few times vs naming it after a line said a lot. If we rename it then people might not know what it is…but then again we aren’t exactly famous, or are we? da da duhhh!
