New Music

It’s a new month, which means it’s time for some new music! The newest installment of Keep Your Ear To the Door features two solo acoustic songs done by AJ Butler. Check them out – we think you will dig the intimacy of the recordings:

“The Grove” – A 10 part drawing series

We thought it be cool to explore the idea that if there was a stereogrove, what would it look like, who would live there, and what kinds of things would go on there. What we’ve come up with so far is a series of drawings based on this “dreamscape” realm where instruments and musical equipment grow on trees. This first series depicts the grove from various viewpoints. All artwork done by Tony Hollums. 8×10 prints are available to purchase. Check it out: http://stereogrove.com/the-grove/

The Grove

March 4, 2010 - 10:14 am 1 Comment

When we first started talking about changing our name, one of the reasons we liked Stereogrove is because the name brings up a lot of visual possibilities that we can play with.  Having a theme you can play with as a band is a key factor. In terms of branding it helps to associate an image with a name to allow them to sink in to the human mind, thus being more memorable. Think of it as a guy wearing concrete shoes, versus someone who isn’t, ones going to cement faster (pun intended).

Long story short we thought it be cool to explore the “what if stereogrove was a real place?” idea.  An actual grove of stereos. What we popped out so far is a series of drawings based on a dream scape realm where instruments and musical equipment grow on trees.  Here the farmers till the land and bring the harvest to the mill where they make their primary export, which is music, that is then sold in the neighboring towns. If you check out the series they are all viewpoints of the same place.

The Grove (10p Series)

A Series of 10 drawings depicting a dream like realm of a Stereogrove.  Instruments grow on trees where they are harvested by the farmers and turned into music in the mill.  Out comes music.

New Music, Tour Update, and Things To Come In 2010

February 2, 2010 - 8:48 am No Comments

We wanted to give you a quick update with what’s been going on with Stereogrove and what you can expect from us in 2010.

Keep Your Ear To The Door

We’ve added some new songs to the “Keep Your Ear To The Door” Series – The series includes jams and song ideas in a rough form. The idea was to be able to let people hear how songs start out in the writing process as well as sharing the bits and pieces of musical awesomeness that happen when we jam. All the songs in this series are recorded in our practice space and mixed by our very own Tony Hollums. Since our last addition came in November, we’ve uploaded three new tunes to cover December, January, and February.

You can stream & download the songs by going here:

Upcoming Shows

2010 is going to be a year that we find ourselves getting out to many cities and towns throughout the Northeast. From Portland to Philly and Worcester to Syracuse, we are hard at work trying to fill the schedule in hopes of spreading the sounds of Stereogrove. We’ve truly appreciated all of the support over the years and we wouldn’t be where we are now without you guys. Our hope is that 2010 will bring your continued support and enthusiasm for what we do. This coming Saturday we will be heading up to Mt. Snow to play at the Rail Jam for the 3rd year in a row. A few weeks later we’ll be heading south back to NYC to play at the Bitter End and then on to Harrisburg, PA for the Millennium Music conference.

Thank You All

So its a bit late, however I did want to thank everyone who came out to this recording event and after party.  I myself had an AWESOME time, and I know the rest of the band did as well. Hectic night for sure but it was totally worth it.  So to everyone who took the time and the funding to come out, rock out, and enjoy yoursleves, The band truly thanks you for everything you have done for us so far. Thanks to you we were able to pay for the tracking and a part of the mixing.

On that note:  If you came to the show and you didn’t pick up a poster, then let us know, and we will get it to you.

For us, we will now continue on spreading the tunes,  and the new name Stereogrove. First order of business is getting the money up to mix the tracks, master the tracks and get the album manufactured. So we got some shows coming up at portobellies as well as other possibilities for us play live that you should come out too.  First up is November 14th,  so get your drinking hat cleaned up and ready for another fun Saturday night at everyone’s favorite Irish pub.
