Jam: Miracle

December 3, 2008 - 11:48 pm 2 Comments

Here is another jam installment from your boys at Stem. This little number is called Miracle it started as a sort of AC/DC style guitar riff that eventually turned into a pretty sweet jam. A chorus part and verse kind of naturally formed out of it, however if we were to make this into a song it would need just a little arranging and clarification. But as one time jam I think its F&*King fantastic. Enjoy and as always let us know what you think.

Maximum Capacity for Blue Men

Hey all, we rocked a Halloween bash in Chicopee with our good friends dpr. An awesome show….there were some awesome costumes as well, like this guy who made his own Halo costume (I feel like it took him a long time in his mom’s basement).  Speaking of taking a long time, we dressed up as the Blue Man Group, and learned that it’s not as simple as just smearing blue paint all over your face. You can see it here – check out our staged Blue Man Group impression (video taken by Kim Zande)…

Rock On!

Jam: Shots Got you Movin

Here is another little reggae influenced jam. During this session we played acoustic guitars, so everything we jammed on was a bit lower-key, meaning that we weren’t trying to blow your face off with pure volume. This is another where someone just started playing a riff and we just ran with it. I think this one has a good chorus hook to it and the groove is pretty solid, very Sublime-ish. I put a delay on the voice when I mixed it because I felt like it, but I think it works for at least parts of the jam. If we were to turn it into a song we would have to add some kind of bridge, maybe a guitar solo, and shorten it up a bit. But with a good strong chorus hook its not hard to make it into a rather solid tune.

Let me know your thoughts. Enjoy…

Jam: Never

September 30, 2008 - 11:53 am 2 Comments

So in keeping with our normal style of things, every once in a while (at the end or at the beginning) of our sets we just like to start playing a riff and see where it goes. Kind of like when you’re a kid and you decide to set things on fire just to see if something cool happens. No one else did that? I’ve been informed that I should probably speak to a professional about this one.

Well most of the time it’s awesome, seeing the rawness of something, unshaped and in its natural form. That’s where our jams come from and that’s where this one comes from. So this next riff is something that everyone just started playing. Its called “Never” but the names for our jams are normally temporary.

Most of these jams we never end up visiting again, because we are like 4 ADD kids who just drank a pack of red bull, and are always distracted by the next cool riff. Which is one of the reasons we have about 50 songs and a 13 track cd (and a multitude of other scattered recordings – at last count I believe AJ had well over 500 CD’s of stuff)…

Hope you like it, and if you have any feedback on it hit us up. If you like it we just may try to remember how we played it. After that we will add a few parts and actually turn it into a song, for your listening pleasure.

Country Bump-Kin

Here is a taste of something a little different from Stem Co. This is a jam that later became twisted a bit and became “Shit Kickin”, which is a song we have a great time playing. This is one of the original short jams that brought about that song. A short one at about 3 minutes this little one is all country twang. I hope you like it. If you do , let me know what you think and feel free to download it.
