Top 5 Reasons to Come to the Show

September 21, 2009 - 5:47 pm No Comments

Please check out the video we recently shot. This is the first in a series of videos we will be releasing over the next few weeks. Enjoy.

SHOW DETAILS

Saturday October 17th At The Bridge Recording Studio (www.thebridgesoundstage.com)

Tickets are $20 and must be purchased before hand. This is a private event and space is limited so visit and purchase your tickets today.

Please note that the ticket is priced accordingly so that we can raise enough money to fund the recording and the event. In today’s world fans are the record label. We realize it’s costly so we have done our best to add a ton value to the event and to make sure it’s a wild night.

For those of you who are traveling from out of town we have a link to some area hotels that are reasonably priced and easy to get to also if you are unable to attend but would still like to contribute you can do so at http://www.stereogrove.com. If you donate more than $50 you will receive a personalized theme song as well as a limited edition CD of never before heard music.

AFTER PARTY DETAILS

The event at the recording studio will probably last a few hours and because it starts early we wanted to give you a full night of fun and music. Immediately following the recording we will all head a few blocks down the street to Toad (1912 Massachusetts Ave) for drinks and more live music. Our good friends Mikey P and Modus will be playing as well as another set from us at midnight.

The after party will be free and is limited to capacity

In Case You are Wondering

January 27, 2009 - 1:56 am No Comments

Stem has been rather quiet lately, so I’m sorry for the lack of communication with everyone. We may have been unseen as of late but we have still been just as busy. We are working on several larger projects in Stem Co. One of which I am currently in the progress of working on, and that is recording all of the songs we have written on some level, in any manner of completeness. Analyzing those recordings and then rewriting these songs and jams to make the strongest songs possible.

For the next few weeks I will be mixing these sessions and then getting these songs up on the website for all of you to hear and comment on, in an effort to get your help to write all of this. We are talking in upwards of 30 40 songs in varying degrees of completeness, style, and quality.  Not all songs are created equal.

With so much to work through, we could always use the help in writing. You don’t have to know much about music you just have to know wither or not you like something. Look for it soon.

We are working on more projects that I will fill you in on this week. One I just got done filming yesterday….now I got your interest :) . Talk to you soon.

Happy Thanksgiving from Stem

November 27, 2008 - 1:39 pm No Comments

This is a quick post just to say Happy Thanksgiving to all of our friends and fans. Thank you for all the support through the year. Its been a great one for Stem so far and we have a strong month left to finish off the year with a bang. We have a great show line up for December, with our last Show of 08 happening on December 20th which is Gary Hryb’s Birthday. Add the two together and you have a massively crazy time at Church. I’ll keep you in the loop.

Be safe be merry, enjoy the turkey, and keep rocking. I have more tunes on the way for your downloading pleasure.

Happy Thanksgiving

Trying to Make It as a Band: Stem on a Mission

October 3, 2008 - 1:04 am 4 Comments

This Band is trying to make it, plain and simple. And by make it we don’t mean all that shit on MTV “Cribs” with celebrities,  giant houses, heroine parties, and being followed by the paparazzi. Bands don’t make it like that these days, in fact the days of the old record label swooping down to sign a band into fame and stardom are over. CD sales have plummeted intensely for the past few years and radio has played nothing but garbage. If bands continue to push that way they may find themselves with 10 seconds of fame at best, where they are the joke of the industry.

We don’t want that – we don’t want the glitz, we don’t want the glam. We just want to play our music. Our idea of making it is just being able to do it for a living. To quit the “real” job, and play out multiple nights a week to a loving audience and share our music with the masses. We can do this without a label. We can do this without the big-wigs. It just takes time and dedication.

The plan is to convert people one at a time. To play a show, and rock your world with awesome tunes, and put on such a great show that you will go out and tell your two friends about it (or more if you have them, and hopefully you do). They will listen to the CD that you burned for them, come to a show and tell their friends who will in turn tell more. Its called “word of mouth” and it’s the best way to get around because it’s the most real. A magazine, MTV, or a commercial can tell you something is awesome, but will you believe them? I don’t - it’s all fake, all hype, all reality shows that are scripted, and there’s no trust involved. But you trust your friends, and if your friends say a band is awesome then you are way more likely to listen.  When you tell your friends about us it’s our job to make sure that we play as awesome as possible, and make the show a great experience, so friends keep telling friends.

Note: If you don’t have friends, we will be your friend.

We are more about the music than the money, and as long as you like it, that’s all that matters (although money helps to pay gas, rehearsal, gear, and rent, so buy a CD haha ). Our friends have been awesome, and everyone that has come to our shows have been huge supporters so far, so I know we are on the right track because our shows get bigger and bigger. Thank all of you for the support.

I will close with a metaphor: If a tree falls in the forest, and nobody hears it, does it make a sound? Is this the same as “If a band plays a song, and nobody is in the bar, did it make any noise?” The answer is “Well of course it does, because we are really f*&king loud, but it doesn’t matter because no one is there to listen.” Without you we have nothing – so tell a friend…

"If You Don't Know Who The Fuck I Am….."

If you came to the CD release show then you will probably remember this classy bit of audio and will perhaps find it funny. If you weren’t there, then you’ll probably just think that i’m and asshole…..which may be the case, the jury is still out :)
