This Band is trying to make it, plain and simple. And by make it we don’t mean all that shit on MTV “Cribs” with celebrities, giant houses, heroine parties, and being followed by the paparazzi. Bands don’t make it like that these days, in fact the days of the old record label swooping down to sign a band into fame and stardom are over. CD sales have plummeted intensely for the past few years and radio has played nothing but garbage. If bands continue to push that way they may find themselves with 10 seconds of fame at best, where they are the joke of the industry.
We don’t want that – we don’t want the glitz, we don’t want the glam. We just want to play our music. Our idea of making it is just being able to do it for a living. To quit the “real” job, and play out multiple nights a week to a loving audience and share our music with the masses. We can do this without a label. We can do this without the big-wigs. It just takes time and dedication.
The plan is to convert people one at a time. To play a show, and rock your world with awesome tunes, and put on such a great show that you will go out and tell your two friends about it (or more if you have them, and hopefully you do). They will listen to the CD that you burned for them, come to a show and tell their friends who will in turn tell more. Its called “word of mouth” and it’s the best way to get around because it’s the most real. A magazine, MTV, or a commercial can tell you something is awesome, but will you believe them? I don’t - it’s all fake, all hype, all reality shows that are scripted, and there’s no trust involved. But you trust your friends, and if your friends say a band is awesome then you are way more likely to listen. When you tell your friends about us it’s our job to make sure that we play as awesome as possible, and make the show a great experience, so friends keep telling friends.
Note: If you don’t have friends, we will be your friend.
We are more about the music than the money, and as long as you like it, that’s all that matters (although money helps to pay gas, rehearsal, gear, and rent, so buy a CD haha ). Our friends have been awesome, and everyone that has come to our shows have been huge supporters so far, so I know we are on the right track because our shows get bigger and bigger. Thank all of you for the support.
I will close with a metaphor: If a tree falls in the forest, and nobody hears it, does it make a sound? Is this the same as “If a band plays a song, and nobody is in the bar, did it make any noise?” The answer is “Well of course it does, because we are really f*&king loud, but it doesn’t matter because no one is there to listen.” Without you we have nothing – so tell a friend…
