It’s a new month, which means it’s time for some new music! The newest installment of Keep Your Ear To the Door features two solo acoustic songs done by AJ Butler. Check them out – we think you will dig the intimacy of the recordings:
“The Grove” – A 10 part drawing series
We thought it be cool to explore the idea that if there was a stereogrove, what would it look like, who would live there, and what kinds of things would go on there. What we’ve come up with so far is a series of drawings based on this “dreamscape” realm where instruments and musical equipment grow on trees. This first series depicts the grove from various viewpoints. All artwork done by Tony Hollums. 8×10 prints are available to purchase. Check it out: http://stereogrove.com/the-grove/

When we first started talking about changing our name, one of the reasons we liked Stereogrove is because the name brings up a lot of visual possibilities that we can play with. Having a theme you can play with as a band is a key factor. In terms of branding it helps to associate an image with a name to allow them to sink in to the human mind, thus being more memorable. Think of it as a guy wearing concrete shoes, versus someone who isn’t, ones going to cement faster (pun intended).
Long story short we thought it be cool to explore the “what if stereogrove was a real place?” idea. An actual grove of stereos. What we popped out so far is a series of drawings based on a dream scape realm where instruments and musical equipment grow on trees. Here the farmers till the land and bring the harvest to the mill where they make their primary export, which is music, that is then sold in the neighboring towns. If you check out the series they are all viewpoints of the same place.
A Series of 10 drawings depicting a dream like realm of a Stereogrove. Instruments grow on trees where they are harvested by the farmers and turned into music in the mill. Out comes music.
All prints are standard 8x10, If you would like a larger (or smaller print size) then contact me and let me know.
The print can be framed and matted (or not, your choice), and then wrapped and shipped out to you with love and speed. Limited edition prints; each one is numbered and signed, and I personally would love you if you bought one, for I like food.
We wanted to give you a quick update with what’s been going on with Stereogrove and what you can expect from us in 2010.
Keep Your Ear To The Door
We’ve added some new songs to the “Keep Your Ear To The Door” Series – The series includes jams and song ideas in a rough form. The idea was to be able to let people hear how songs start out in the writing process as well as sharing the bits and pieces of musical awesomeness that happen when we jam. All the songs in this series are recorded in our practice space and mixed by our very own Tony Hollums. Since our last addition came in November, we’ve uploaded three new tunes to cover December, January, and February.
You can stream & download the songs by going here:
Upcoming Shows
2010 is going to be a year that we find ourselves getting out to many cities and towns throughout the Northeast. From Portland to Philly and Worcester to Syracuse, we are hard at work trying to fill the schedule in hopes of spreading the sounds of Stereogrove. We’ve truly appreciated all of the support over the years and we wouldn’t be where we are now without you guys. Our hope is that 2010 will bring your continued support and enthusiasm for what we do. This coming Saturday we will be heading up to Mt. Snow to play at the Rail Jam for the 3rd year in a row. A few weeks later we’ll be heading south back to NYC to play at the Bitter End and then on to Harrisburg, PA for the Millennium Music conference.
FETZER FEST III
On March 27th we’ll be rocking the Fetzer Fest at the Crocodile Rock Café in Allentown, tickets can be purchased at http://www.stereogrove.com/fetzerfest
Yo yo yo! Big ups and big thanks to everyone who came to Porter Belly’s in Brighton this past Saturday to hang and jam with us! We had a great time as always, and we it was awesome to see some familiar faces as well as some new ones too. Also, thanks to Devon and John H. who provided their vocal stylings to add to the good vibes that night – you guys are awesome and we want to jam with you again very soon! As a matter of fact, Matt Smith will be playing a special acoustic performance with John H. (Johnny Blackout) at Harpers Ferry in Allston on Tuesday, 1/26/10 so come check that out if you’re around. We have a bunch of shows coming up in February – from Vermont to NYC to PA and maybe somewhere in between, so check out our calendar for more info on those. Also stay tuned for some big news about our upcoming “Live From The Bridge” album, which we’re putting the finishing touches on now. We’re planning some more shows in and around Boston in the upcoming months, and we’ll definitely have some goodies to share with you in a material form that you’re gonna love. That’s about it for now – drop us a line anytime. We love you all, and lookin forward to seeing you again very soon…
So the holidays are upon us and everyone is going crazy trying to find the right gift for someone. Well, after you’re exhausted spending all that time with your crazy uncle or your cousin with the drooling problem, get loose and unwind this New Year’s Eve weekend at Toad in Cambridge on that Saturday (Jan. 2nd) with the band, and with a crazy after-party entitled “Take it to the Limit”. You can check it out on Facebook as well.
Also, to spice it up a bit, here is another new sex toy for your ear canal. Part of an ongoing collection of music called Keep Your Ear to the Door. It’s a tasty romp of a slide guitar jam called “Livin in Hell” and we just may play it at Toad. Let us know what you think.
